If some canon events play out similarly, with Lucius, Narcissa, and Draco in disgrace, I wonder if it won't be Barty taking the Vow.

Hm, that's an interesting thought. But to kill who? Most of the possible candidates are in hiding--it's not like Dumbledore is at Hogwarts presenting this huge target, however well defended, like in canon (--well, I mean, he sort of is, but they don't know that.)

I wasn't necessarily thinking that Draco's task would be the same, but that for some reason Narcissa would think he needed protection. Just from what I was reading ftim his comment.

Ah, yeah, that makes more sense. I wouldn't be entirely surprised if he gets asked to protect Draco, yes. That is a very good point.

What would be deeply funny is if Narcissa asked Barty to protect Lucius on his task. Poor Barty wouldn't know what to do, then.
