A humorous thought...

The kids, especially, must look like modern day gatherings with journals rather than phones.

:-D

A bit like this? Or this? Except with Draco instead of Ron.

I looked for the picture of Hermione in line to the professor in the first movie, where they were all looking at books, but couldn't find it.

You know, I'm trying to imagine how journals would work in that picture! Ny mental image of them has been trade-paperback-novel in size, but I've never actually thought about the practicalities of checking a journal and writing in it with a quill that requires ink anywhere other than at a desk. Even if it's pocket-notebook-sized, there's still the quill and inkwell.

Valid question! The ISS has the advantage of having bracelets they can carry stuff around in, but what do the rest of the Protectorate do?

I'm envisioning special pockets in their robes, like their wand pockets.

I'm not even thinking the transportation! If I'm writing in a notebook, my pen doesn't need to be dipped in ink, so I can just stand in line and take out the pen and notebook. But if I needed an inkwell, I'd have to set it somewhere or something, right?

Maybe they have ink pots you can hang around your neck, with flip tops to avoid having to set the stopper somewhere? Add a quill case (like a pencil case) and your journal, and you're set.

I can imagine that not ending well, though. Ink all down your front and such.

Are you a wizard or not? :) You are thinking like a muggle. I bet that would be the in game response.

Levitate your inkwell, which has an anti spill charm, and you'll be fine. I think the kids have mentioned self inking quills at some point too.

If you really can't manage on the go. Transfigure yourself a table, assuming you listen in class. The ISS are 6th years after all.

LOL

Well, I AM a muggle! Though don't tell the Death Eaters that . . .

You are SO RIGHT! Levitation, OBVIOUSLY. First thing you learn in Charms, duh!
