Barty, Moody, Antonin...y?

So Crouch's latest letter home got me thinking - there's obviously going to be a showdown between Crouch and Moody, but is it going to be like canon - and Moody dies perpetuating the illusion that he is protecting someone important - or is this going to be the catalyst for Dolohov (and Narcissa) to (completely) turn against Voldie?

Personally I'm hoping for the latter - Alternity has been so generally grim compared to canon that it'd be nice if Year 7 was where the grimness started turning around :D

Hm. That wasn't at all how I read this private message to Draco - he sent that message, with the addendum that made me think he had figured out that Draco was likely not dead at all, and was in fact reading his journal.

Perhaps I should have said, "strongly suspects Draco's alive" instead of "knows", however. :)

I thought those were prayers for the dead. I didn't see it as a message actually to Draco at all, but one about him. (Dunno if anyone else here has ever written a letter or an email to a dead person, but, um, people do that sometimes. Doesn't mean we think they're still alive.)

Mm, indeed. I have written letters to the dead (and then burned them ritually to send them on their way). So I was aware of the possibility.

I just didn't think that was the case with the letter to Draco - and so I misread this one. Because it wasn't addressed to Antosha himself, as many of his other prayers have been, but to Draco, in a public fashion, I thought he was deliberately sending a message, saying, "Yes, I know you're alive, and I'm going to protect your classmates, but in case anybody's reading my journal I will obfuscate this somewhat."

But! I'm wrong. That's OK too.

Part of the reason for the suspicion, I suspect, is that Dolohov's previous rounds of prayers to the dead have been wrapped in a layer of private messages to himself, or solely written to himself, and thus that this was the first example of him directing such a message to person-believed-dead where if person was not actually dead, they would actually see it.
