(no subject)

I wanted to make sure that everyone saw this trail of comments:

So, Neville is feeling really guilty about how (as he sees it) he is responsible for Seamus having to kill his mother. And so Evelyn directs him to this one of Frank's posts, which is from back when Neville asked if Frank and Alice could tell him everything about the Order, then Obliviate him.

To which my response is (of course) to get rather a bit teary. I'm so glad Neville can see his parent's thoughts about him now.

Sally-Anne and Pansy are talking about the ritual with Seamus too. Heartstrings, why must you tug so?

They don't need more painful shocks at the moment. This week/past few weeks've been horrible for... well, a large portion of the cast, honestly. At least--I'm glad there's things like that post of Frank's for them to read too.

Sally-Anne eleventh point made me laugh.

ETA: Lines just posted on his observations today to Cedric. "Half the Slytherin table were giving each other dazed looks at dinner", etc.
While this is slightly amusing me, they, um, may want to try to look less dazed by the end of the weekend. (Odds that Dolohov is going to notice precisely which group of students look like... hm, not thinking of an appropriate metaphor. Look somewhat in shock?)

Yeah, he probably already has.
I wonder what he thinks happened. (Probably not 'they just got inducted into a secret organization that was founded by Albus Dumbledore and are reading up on what they've been up to for the past five years under a secret lock on the journals'. Because that group joining the Order would just be ridiculous. /tongue-in-cheek)

Though I quite liked the "I am reassigning my romantic-poetry time budget to other concerns" bit. Oh, Linus.

Oh, man. And then there's this exchange between Alice and Frank to further break the heart.

You know, sometimes the players put in subtle nods, little references to the characters' storyline in the original canon. This is one of the most poignant ever.

I remember that canon Albus said that Frank and Alice Longbottom were very popular. I'm SO glad we have Alternity to fully flesh out why. It's been truly a gift to know the whole human range of Neville's parents: Alice's kindness and groundedness, Frank's temper and sense of humor. The way he swears and then catches himself and apologizes to the kids. The way they adore their children and deeply love each other. It makes re-reading canon even more bittersweet, reflecting upon all that Neville was robbed of, growing up. And Alternity has made it truly real.
