The notice-me-not and anti-muggle wards were very strong. Otherwise why weren't the entire realm radioactive glass? Don't think Reagan would have hesitated.

I think from Siz's post a while back about Ireland is that the wards also had a notice-me-not ward and made Muggles forget that Ireland even existed. But with what they did to the 83 wards, the notice-me-not came down over Ireland and now all the Muggles are freaking out because they're suddenly remembering a country that they forgot existed. So I believe the same happened for the UK when Voldie took over. Muggles just forgot that we existed.
