Harry asks Pansy what she experiences when the Dementors affect her. Penelope posts the lengthy cast list for the play. Ron couldn't be more pleased with his role. Blaise thinks he, Daphne, Draco, and Harry will have fun with their parts. Barty requests confirmation that the play contains no inappropriate or embarrassing content. Ginny objects to her assigned role but commits to playing it. Padma approaches Harry for Parseltongue tips to help play Nagini.

Ginny congratulates Daphne on landing the role of Barty Crouch, Jr. Alice suffers some nightmares reliving the Battle of Leicester. Narcissa teases Barty about his upcoming birthday party.

Professor McGonagall inquires whether Lucius has any news about some tournament negotiations and their ramifications for the following year. She then freaks slightly when she realizes there are six babies who have appeared in the book, all in need of rescue. Barty allays his mother's over-zealous preparations for his visit. Dora recounts a surprise inspection that gave her and Remus both a turn.

21 January
Harry achieves a "Eureka" moment in his private tutelage with Professor Raz. Professor Sinistra sets some protocols for students researching their characters.

As always, this is only a small portion of the plots - the most important ones, and since it's the summer, also a little flavor of what some of the characters did over the long holiday.

• Hermione asks Harry's permission to check her suspicions about the Petrifying creature in the library, but before she can come back, she's Petrified herself, along with Penelope Clearwater. Ginny blacked out during the attack, but she was immediately taken to the hospital wing - it can't have been her. Amycus Carrow is apprehended for the attacks.
• Sirius's main fake identity, Nigel Cullenden, was compromised. He had to go on the run.
• Ron, Harry, Draco, and Pansy snuck out to the Forbidden Forest on a tip from Carrow. They met spiders - and Hagrid.
• Regulus' behavior became self-destructive. Pansy worried - and theorized. The Order wondered whether it was staged, to draw Sirius out. A couple of little girls that looked like Pansy disappeared, and there were rumors. But Regulus just got stranger and stranger.
• The Weasleys petitioned to adopt Luna, but were rejected. She was fostered with Lavender Brown's family instead.
• Regulus died, apparently committing suicide. Walburga Black died too. Sirius fought Barty Crouch Jr. on the journals about it, and Pansy got into contact with him. It came out that yes, Regulus had been the murderer.
• When Amycus Carrow's rat cages were knocked over, Sally-Anne took one of them as a pet - and figured out what he was researching.
• "Her body will lie in the Chamber forever," and Ginny is missing (but soon found). Myrtle is concerned. Hydra's missing too - and Harry, Ron and Draco are AWOL, along with Professor Lockhart. Basilisk killed, Ginny OK, Terry and Hermione and Penelope (and unfortunately Moebius) awoken, exams canceled, all is once more well in the wizarding world. (There had previously been some hints about Hydra.) Well, except that Skeeter covered the incident in the Prophet.
• The I Solemnly Swear lock began to realize that there's a resistance group out there, as they help Terry and Hermione hide their new wands. (The Order also found out a tiny bit about ISS.)
• There was a camp uprising, quelled by Dementors. Subsequently, there was a large breakout from Azkaban. Some of the prisoners were recaptured, but not all - most significantly Snape and Macnair.
• As the MLE search for Sirius hotted up, Bellatrix almost caught him - an almighty scare - but despite initial reports to the contrary, he managed to escape using his Animagus form, which helped shield him from a very dark curse. The official story is that he died evading capture.
• The Ministry discovered that Frank and Alice Longbottom were still alive. Neville was forced to repudiate his parents. At the same time, the Order breached the wards - and Sirius jumped through, in dog form! So he's in the UK now, but not with the Order.
• Percy Weasley took a summer job with Lucius Malfoy. Terry suspected that McGonagall was purposely letting him learn magic. Sally-Anne cared for the Strettons' young daughter. As Pansy's mother prepared to be remarried, Pansy learned more about her inheritance. Lana was inducted into the Daughters of the Protectorate and debuted - and began Auror training. Poppy and Pomona ran errands for the Order under cover of a vacation. Ernie moved into a new house. Neville and Ron socialized (along with others). Harry was frustrated with Buckingham. Hydra had a birthday and tea with the Lord Protector. Alice and Frank had a romantic weekend and got to see their children (!!!). Lucius' sister got married. Crouch Jr. practised dueling. Amycus toured the camps. Rabastan Lestrange ("the Razzer") became Harry's bodyguard.
• The Young Protectors League had a trip to New London. While they were there, Sally-Anne and Pansy found a runaway Muggleborn and tried to help her - and Sirius gave the MLE a scare. The situation nearly exposed the ISS to Pansy and to the Order. Ultimately, they had to let Pansy into the ISS lock. The MLE questioned students that were at the scene. There was also a second trip - for students who weren't quite as desirable as the first group. Neville got beat up, to Sinistra's disappointment.
• There was a surprise party for Harry's birthday. He had a spat with someone who insulted his parents. His birthday gift from his father was a private messaging system for everyone, on the journals. Ron got him a sneakoscope.
• Percy got picked for Head Boy. Rabastan is the new Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher (and he wrote his first entry). Hydra wrote messages to the Lord Protector.
• Sirius seems to be becoming a symbol of resistance - and he was recognized, even in disguise, though not exposed. Rumours of his aliveness abound.
• Harry went on holiday, and while he was gone there was a Snape sighting near Buckingham. Dementors were put on Harry's protection detail.
• Ginny requested to be transferred to Slytherin House, but was denied.
• Sirius continued posting Grim Truths, at least until he "died": 5/21/93; 6/4/93.

As always, this summary does not include all the subplots, etc., and it's not in precise date order, but it should provide a starting point!

• At Platform 9 3/4, Neville did something to irritate Draco (and Harry, starting a feud between Harry and Ron). The Dementors got onto the train, but Raz took care of it (yes, Harry fainted). Evelyn was sorted into Gryffindor. The Dementors stationed around the castle were troubling.
• Pansy sent Sirius an owl, after Hermione hinted he wasn't dead.
• Harry's year began their electives; some were in Dark Arts with Alecto Carrow, and everybody enjoyed Professor Brutka's Care of Magical Creatures class (Luna was jealous to not be in it yet!). In Defence Against the Dark Arts, a boggart was the first order of business. It was generally unpleasant for everyone. Professor Carpenter's Divination class went about as well as could be expected. Professor Carrow seemed to be singling Draco out.
• Sirius worked to turn Terrie (who'd recognized him through his disguise) into a source in the camps.
• Terry considered trying to become an Animagus. Dean appeared to be playing both sides - pro- and anti-Protectorate.
• There was an incident where private journal messages became public. At first, Bill was suspected, but he was later cleared.
• Someone (read: Padma and Seamus) hexed Ron to say 'my parents couldn't buy me brains if they wanted to' every time he was spoken to. His friends tried to help.
• There seemed to be increased pressure on half-bloods to behave properly, with the "Sisters in Witchcraft" programme (and a separate one for boys, the "Sons of Wizardry"). As a result, Michael Corner found out that he's actually a halfblood - his "father" isn't his biological dad. Michael's parents' apothecary shop was robbed; he thought it was connected - but was it actually Snape? And there seemed to be a pattern...
• Harry got the Grim in his Divination teacup, but couldn't convince Professor Carpenter it was.
• The Young Protectors League continued; the first speaker was Rabastan. Another activity was planned: amateur theatricals. Meanwhile, the first meeting of the "Sisters in Witchcraft" went well.
• While Sirius stopped producing Grim Truths - after all, he's "dead" - some impostors sprung up.
• Hermione saw a dark-haired man in Hogsmeade, causing the protections around Harry to tighten further. The Order suspected it to be related to the apothecary robberies, and Sirius kept watch. However, on the actual day of the first Hogsmeade visit, someone - Snape! - broke into the castle. Meanwhile, Harry and Draco found out a bunch about the Razzer's generation.
• The MLE caught someone disloyal through her private messages, although she was unrelated to the Order.
• The Dementors attacked a Quidditch match, causing Harry to fall off his broom. In response Harry was prevented from flying - but not Draco.
• Lupin and Tonks began to operate a speakeasy/café out of "Junius Ponds'" shop. And - Nymphadora's pregnant, though it took Lupin (and her!) a little while to be reconciled to it.
• Somebody killed Evelyn Longbottom's cat, and it looks like it might have been Professor Carrow - in fact, Sirius confirmed that it was.
• Crispin, Lucius' secretary, quit (garnering Lucius' wrath). The replacement did not work out. Neither did the next one. The next is still hanging in there.
• There were more babies to rescue from the camps, but one of them was very, very ill. On the same trip, Sirius and Frank managed to beat up Professor Carrow in retaliation for Evelyn's cat, which raised the MLE's suspicion that Snape and Macnair were responsible. It all came out all right for the Order, though Carrow seemed to have lasting effects, probably due to alcohol withdrawals.
• Sirius' "body" was "found" and put on public view. It was cause for celebration for some, but not others. Everybody was more or less obligated to go see the body as a show of loyalty. Some students found a clever way to avoid looking too closely.
• Harry had to stay at Hogwarts (except one trip to see the body, which was his "Christmas present from Father"), and Hydra maneuvered into being able to stay too. When Ron and Harry's friends started fighting over this, Percy compelled Ron to make him apologise.
• Fred & George gave Terry something special.
• At Taunton Deane, there was a disturbance timed to coincide with a Christmas musical event - just as Bach's Cantata 140 AKA "Sleepers Wake" (warning: link goes to Wikipedia) was played.
• Pansy's mum got remarried, to much gossip-section to-do (and resulting in some shenanigans regarding Pansy's inheritance). Another couple got married, too - Nymphadora and Lupin!
