Reading up about this thing, it really sounds like what Bellatrix did is find out about late stage hemorrhagic smallpox and then turn it into a spell.

Still no word from Barty. On the one hand, I can't stand him. On the other, I do kinda like Dolohov (for a Death Eater) and he'd be devastated if Barty were killed. Ooh! Or! This could be the thing that turns him against Voldemort! He'd never join the Order but I can see him deciding not to lift a finger while Voldemort's regime burns to the ground.

I KNOW! I'm SO conflicted, because having Barty and Dolohov actually genuinely care for one another (and other people around them like Narcissa and Siz) hits my empathy buttons, and I never thought in a frillion years that I'd empathize with Barty Crouch.

Their love, it's just a beautiful thing, in an utterly weird sort of way.

Now Bella... that's another matter altogether.
