the TWINS!
Mar. 19th, 2009 06:37 pmOMFG, OMFG, OMFG
The twins must have made their own version of the Order Only spell! How else do you explain this and this?
They are geniuses! I am really excited at the thought of another filter, so we can see some more people speak their minds freely to each other without Voldemort *or* the Order knowing. This could get very complex and interesting. I wonder who they'll share the code with? Terry, perhaps?
Also, everything seems to be in place for the Forbidden Forest/Unicorn Blood detention tonight.
Hooray game!

Date: 2009-03-20 01:53 am (UTC)I seem to recall something about the original Marauders' Map having a secondary use as a secret way to pass messages, but I can't remember if that's canon or fanon. Interesting to see an element of the Map apparently interlaced with the journals, anyway.

Date: 2009-03-20 11:34 am (UTC)So we... connect the blank parchment... to the secret journal spell...
Did they somehow use up the Marauder's Map in creating the journal spell so that now it really is just a blank parchment?
Was that their first test, so that they actually encoded something on that paper using their spell and then waited to see if their parents and all their resources would be able to read it (and were willing to test it out on the journals once it became clear that whatever was on the paper could *not* be concealed)?
But none of these are reasons for you to smirk! So... argh. Patience it is. For now.

Date: 2009-03-22 03:30 pm (UTC)So it's worked on posts their private journal, posts in the community, and replies to someone else's posts. The only thing left to test, that I can think of, is whether it works in replies to someone else's comment. And once they get that test done with, they can start... whatever they are going to actually use it for.
Kinda interesting that they've been mostly testing it by posting things that could get them in trouble if the spell didn't work rather than, for example, "the first person who replies to this will get a chocolate frog." Not sure why I'm bringing that up *now* though, since this last test is the only one that doesn't actually fall into that category.

Date: 2009-03-23 01:11 pm (UTC)I like that the spell might be a little different, rather than the exact same method Bill used.
Or maybe Order Only would actually work if it were anywhere in the body of a post, and nobody's thought to try it yet.
