Ernie advises his housemate to avoid Harry following the dueling club incident. Dean provides the incantation for the skating party. Harry tells his peers that they are all daft. Ginny starts several thoughts, but doesn't finish them. Dean meets Prefects who prevent his skating party from taking place as planned. Madam Pomfrey relaxes in her office, anticipating a spate of patients later that day. Lucius approves of the inaugural edition of a new wizarding magazine, as well as its lead article about Regulus Black. Padma calls urgently for help in the face of another attack. Madam Pomfrey calms Molly with assurances that Ginny will be fine. Padma speculates regarding the pattern of the attacker.
13 December
Ginny recovers in the hospital wing, but can't remember everything.
14 December
Sirius demands action from the Governors to protect the students and allow Professor McGonagall to investigate.
15 December
Narcissa underplays a Death Eater gathering in Norfolk, at which Regulus, Lucius, and others committed atrocities. Molly expresses her distress at Ron's decision to remain at Hogwarts over Christmas. Ron, however, seems more concerned with spiders and celebrities.
16 December
Sally-Anne changes the subject to ask Pansy about her Christmas traditions.
17 December
Draco tells his parents not to expect Christmas presents from him anytime soon.
18 December
Sirius coordinates the test of the wards with Frank and Alice. Dean offers two possible dates for Neville to have him over to visit.
