Sirius struggles to draft a Grim Truth. Blaise looks for his copy of the Roman Circus insert from the Prophet. Nymphadora sends the boys off to watch the Task projected along the Thames. Harry frets about the efficacy of the gillyweed. Barty Crouch, Jr. releases his MLE assistant (Lana!). He also propositions Narcissa for a furtive meeting. Padma roots for Harry. Narcissa excuses herself from joining Lucius and Draco. Justin tries to talk to Hydra. Sirius watches the Task with pride in Harry's choices. Professor Sinistra overhears more of the judges' deliberations than she cares to know. Neville breathes easier when the Task is over. Professor McGonagall announces the results of the judges' deliberations. Harry congratulates his fellow competitors. Sirius reacts to an unpleasant surprise at the Frost Faire gladiatorial games that evening. Professor Sinistra queries Narcissa to find out whether she knows anything about what's going on. Barty seems to have no objection to the duelling taking a gruesome turn. Kingsley asks for an update during the Players' intermission. Sally-Anne inquires of Professor Sinistra whether the rumours about the games are true. Director Selwyn wonders if Lucius knew about it ahead of time. Alice reaches out to the Order members. Narcissa chides Barty for offering to put himself on the block. Padma complains to Seamus for the disturbing nature of the evening, as well. Ron notices that the Towler brothers were summoned to the Headmistress' office and puts the pieces together. Justin apologizes to Hydra. Harry speculates about his punishment. Selwyn compares notes with Lucius from the last night's brainstorm session. Pansy wishes Lucius a good birthday, considering the circumstances. Professor Sinistra invites the students to a night of stargazing. Sirius thinks it would be good to open Laszlo's, too. Selwyn notifies Burdett-Coutts, the Faire organizer, and Stephen Rosier of two decisions he has made. He also calls Bill Weasley in to meet with him. Bill answers the summons with some hesitation. Remus postpones the dinner invitation for Molly and Arthur. Harry consults Professor Lestrange about the events of the last 24 hours. Percy makes sure that Lucius knows he's ready to assist. Amycus Carrow dislikes what he hears on the wireless. Bill gets a promotion of sorts. Fred and George meet him while he runs up to Hogwarts on an errand in his new capacity. Snape holds a different opinion from Razzer's with respect to Harry's blamelessness. Zacharias listens to the closing ceremonies. Percy connects with Penelope. Seamus praises the Towlers on their change in status. Pansy reaches out to Draco.

Bellatrix directs her investigation through her minions. Professor McGonagall convenes a staff meeting. Percy assures Bill he has every confidence in him in his new post. Daphne ponders if a condolence basket is an appopriate gesture for the Warrington brothers. Professor Slughorn advocates against going too far to save a failing student. Lavender expresses her thanks to one of her brothers for talking the other out of duelling. She also berates her other brother for considering it. Professor McGonagall also writes to the Lord Protector.

Professor Sinistra proceeds with her plan to intervene on behalf of the struggling student (Thomas Capper). Hydra plucks up the courage to ask Bella what's to become of her pet rabbit. Justin seethes over Bella's abusiveness. Daphne defends her actions to her boyfriend. Fred and George supply the Head Boy with wares. Penelope suspects their contact immediately. Sally-Anne debates going to Dueling Club. Hermione corners Harry through the journals. She also explains to Snape how his interaction with Harry may not be as helpful as he thinks. Susan approves of the Head Boy's plan to defuse the tension at school.

Draco enlists his grandmother in an inventory of Narcissa's emerald jewelry. Sirius hopes to visit Harry at the next Hogsmeade weekend. Frank anticipates the need to rescue more muggleborn infants. Professor Sinistra discloses the plans for the next YPL activity.
1 March
Frank reveals that there are a large number of muggleborn infants in need of rescue. Nymphadora discusses with Remus and Sirius which of them should get the first crack at the mission. Blaise chastises his mother for allowing her fiance's impure blood to become public knowledge. Padma justifies the events of the gladiatorial games. Ron appreciates a birthday without a lot of embarassing tricks involved. Remus confronts Sirius over his travel plans.

Pansy readies arrangements for a more formal observation of Ron's birthday. Sirius seeks marital advice from Alice. Ron thanks his parents for their presents.
