Rodolphus invites Lana for tea and sympathy. Bellatrix records a development in her mysterious investigation. Percy informs Penelope that he has to shorten their planned date in Hogsmeade. Fred and George check on their friends' progress toward ball dates. Zacharias voices his position on dancing. Daphne picks the boy she wants. Padma wonders if Daphne's learned anything about her research project. Draco provides a list of the remaining students who, to his knowledge, are still available. Seamus objects to making Draco's list. Ron overthinks the Ball's implications.

Justin advances his relationship with Hydra. Sirius seems less than pleased by the news from his former student. Ron attempts to ask Katrina Bundy to the ball. He fails to close the deal. Seamus continues his quest as well. Padma can't seem to concentrate. Draco seeks Pansy's help on Harry's behalf. Harry breaks his date with Cho. Susan denies any romantic interest in Neville whatsoever.

Hydra gets Yule Ball robes from Narcissa. Professor Sinistra catches up on her correspondence.
15 December
Daphne plots a way to get detention with Professor Lestrange. Professor Lestrange, meanwhile, guesses that Narcissa is in cahoots with his brother. Draco finds Daphne's display of temperament confusing. Professor Lestrange offers Harry some lovelorn advice.
16 December
Harry proposes that Honnoria Sandoval go as his date to the Ball. Ron asks Mandy Brocklehurst. Professor Lestrange consults Professor Sinistra about Daphne's weird inspection of his office. Daphne assures everyone she's fine. Luna worries about Millie.
