A mid-summer present
Jul. 18th, 2012 01:54 pmNow that the players have all had a chance to see these, we agree you all should get to enjoy.
I've been working the past few months on a massive organise-all-our-game-data project [1], which among other things meant rereading the entire game. And as I read, I kept finding taglines that needed to be made into buttons/images/whatever.
So, I did.
Inside the cut, I've shared the first 8 images. They weren't designed as icons, but if you want to use them that way (or for some other use), feel free - all I ask is that if someone asks about it, you tell them where it came from and about the game.
However, I've also got them set up on a store on Zazzle if you'd like actual physical objects. [2] I've set up buttons and magnets, but I'm glad to set up other things (mugs, t-shirts, whatever) or to consider other similar store options if there's something preferable. (Or to see if I can edit stuff into something more usericon friendly.) The store is still populating, but I've put in direct links that should work immediately below. (I have a full set of magnets on my fridge at the moment, and they make me smile every time I walk by.)
I've also got about another 5 designs I'm currently mulling over, and I'll cheerfully take further suggestions. [3] Meta buttons are also awesome (I had a F5F5F5F5 one suggested to me this past weekend, and intend to do something with that.)
The links do include spoilers for game up through the immediate aftermath of the 3rd task, though I've tried to avoid major ones in the descriptions here.

A comment from the Twins, after joining the Order.

Remus, throwing an entirely reasonable fit on discovering what Dumbledore has been doing for the last several years.

Because every traumatic event needs a commemorative button. (I am particularly fond of the 3 shadow wreaths for the Muggle and Muggleborn deaths.)

Said far too many places to count. Translate as best you can.

You remember that conversation where Draco and Pansy talk about what colour Lucius would turn if Draco said he were dating Midgen? You can now have your own handy colour samples! (They're based on the Pantone shades of those names.) This is the one that just makes me grin every time I see it.

This is Draco, commenting on the previous evening (the climax of Y3, wherein there were werewolves, Aurors, Dementors, Sirius, Snape, and various other goings-on, and a hippogriff in a pear tree.)

Narcissa struck this out when writing to Barty just after the Games. Still true, though.

For all the Molly Weasleys of the world.

[1] Said data includes some non-public stuff (background character notes, stuff that's not live in the game yet and might change, etc.) so we can't share it directly. However, we are now at the point where if someone goes "Um, who was X person again?" it is now much easier to find a complete answer. This makes me so very happy. (And at the end of the game, I do expect we'll share it.)
[2] Zazzle requires a 10% minimum royalty to the creator: my plan for that money (whatever amount it ends up being) is to throw it at whatever we do to celebrate/mourn the end of game in a few years.
[3] When I did a private button for myself (of the icon you see on this post), their trademark check threw a fit at the magnet, but not at the button, because of the house name. I'd been trying to avoid the trademarked terms anyway, and I think that continues to be a good idea. The images I use are things I have the rights to through the design program I've been using, and if I go outside the program, they'll be stuff with appropriate usage rights. But I'm willing to give things a try and see if they pass their system.

Date: 2012-07-19 10:17 pm (UTC)And maybe a 'Goodnight, Pirate' one?
'Wizard!' or 'That's wizard!' (or 'That's snitch!' but it might not pass the trademark test.)
I really do want a set of these! (Especially 'I'm fine.')

Date: 2012-07-20 02:33 pm (UTC)(I'm also sort of tempted by "Anywiz...." along the lines of the Wizard. Snitch might be okay - a quick search suggests it's only current for games, not for something like a button.)
The other ones on my current list:
1) "Slytherin House: where we value ambition, heritage, Parselmouths, subtlety, and common sense!” (http://alt-sally-anne.dreamwidth.org/40738.html) (depending on how I can wrangle the text: I may leave off the Slytherin, and start with "we value..."
2) I really hate May (various, including http://alt-lee.dreamwidth.org/1030.html)
3) Whoever drew them got my hair COMPLETELY wrong. ( http://alt-lee.dreamwidth.org/1030.html)
4) honour the lost by fulfilling a better purpose ( http://alt-sirius.dreamwidth.org/59368.html) (Maybe combine this with the Grim Truth idea.)
5) Death Eater Wrangler / Undercover Lackey (same trademark issue, but I think that one's manageable)

I also really like Justin's Clever Plan jokes, recently. (http://alt-neville.dreamwidth.org/25656.html)
