Question for the players: What's the convention on strikethrough in this game? Are the lined-out words visible to other characters, as they are to us, does it only show as a smudge, or is it as if they're not there at all?
Thanks for asking this question. I've been trying to suss out how it works, too, but hadn't thought to ask the players. (U r smrt. Me, not so much.)
I'm amused that the answer given is pretty ambiguous. I appreciate that a "smudge convention" gives the players room to create confusion in certain conversations and that it allows for occasions when a player may unwittingly give away a thought s/he intended to censor.
Yes, it does allow for some playing with later on. I'm generally not a huge fan of the strikethrough in RPGs when it becomes a crutch, but as with most things, it's all about balance.
