You may be right. I do think that Boot intends to wear Neville's scarf on his feet, and that he thought Pansy was offering the jumper for the same thing. But just because Boot interpreted the offer that way doesn't mean that's how it was meant.
Also, as always, I could be wrong about Boot's thinking as well. I suppose that sort of disclaimer isn't really necessary in a community based largely on speculation and inference, but the fact that the authors of this work can read what we write does sort of constantly inspire me to be careful about making false assumptions.
And speaking of assumptions, Amycus Carrow (http://alt-terry.livejournal.com/7703.html?thread=42263#t42263) just posted, and I feel like his "If you feel you deserve them" is his way of laying a trap for Boot. Like, if he accepts the gift, he'll be punished for not knowing his place, etc. That would be wonderfully twisted and Slytherin of him, if true.
Oh, how creepy and awful of him! Not only does it look like a trap, it's also probably undermining whatever self-worth Boot is getting from his interactions with the students. :(
Yes. Either he's working rather slowly at friending others or... there are some odd folks in that set (besides me): Hannah, Ginny, Luna? He's watching the senior Weasleys, too, so he's may be watching the Muggle-lovers (but he's skipped Ron). He's got Myrtle friended -- that could be a surveillance thing, too, since she reports if something odd happens in her loo. He's ignoring the Mudbloods who aren't his creatures. Interesting.
