More Speculation

So Ginny has just told us two very interesting things:

1. The diadem is a horcrux in this universe, too
2. Ginny Weasley has been influenced by a horcrux in this universe, too

On its own, this looks like a bit of "Well played, players! Way to bring it back around."

But in light of Lucius's comment and Cedric and Harry's plans, it looks like some other things may be true in this universe, too. Like Cedric Diggory not living to finish school at Hogwarts, and Harry being unable to cast AK even when he's been driven to try.

I'm concerned, given that canon shows us Harry attempting AK against Bellatrix in revenge for Sirius's death, that Harry in this 'verse is going to be driven to AK against Umbridge in revenge for Cedric's death, after Cedric is the one to "slam the bludger right down the middle" and stand against her.

On the other hand, if Harry takes action against Umbridge and succeeds in destroying the diadem that would ultimately be helpful toward Voldemort's downfall.


And speaking of things coming back around, is anyone else simultaneously worried that Crouch's tracking spell will lead to the Institute being caught AND hoping that it fills the role Grawp had in canon and provides inspiration for someone(s) leading Umbridge into the Forbidden Forest and ultimately into the path of the centaurs?

I hadn't thought that the tracking spell could guide Umbridge to her doom (or something doom-ish, anyway), but I have been worried that it'd reveal Moddey or put Sally-Anne in danger. :(

I suppose it's possible that it'll result in Crouch's demise (or mangling via centaur or whatever else), which would be particularly crushing for Dolohov - he was so happy to finally have an heir.

[Edit: Crouch seems to be giving up, for good or ill. I was worried when Dolohov was able to discern that the blood was squirrel blood, not centaur or child blood, but it's looking good so far.

That said, I think it's entirely possible (and sad!) that Harry might attempt to avenge Cedric; it'd be awesome if in so doing he destroyed or un-horcrux-ified the diadem, but still sad.]

It appears that Harry is dead set against AKing Umbridge, because it would make Voldie happy for him to do so. Which raises the question: how is Harry going to try to remove her if he's not willing to kill her?

Because you know that now he's got this knowledge he's going to come up with some damnfool reckless plan (unless Draco manages to inject some cunning, or the rest of the ISS manage to pull off an assist).

Damnfool reckless sums up his behavior in canon, too, so I'm pretty sure it'll be something like that. I hope Voldie doesn't praise Umbridge when she's at Court, but I'm not sure what to hope for in that regard.
