Wanted to make sure people caught this:

Minerva was part of Selwyn's conspiracy.

Which uncovers an interesting problem.

Suppose someone not in the Order or the ISS wants to put together a serious conspiracy, and suspects someone in the Order or the ISS will be a willing conspirator. For the sake of not ending up cruciated and/or dead, they're going to want some kind of anti-tattling insurance; but that means that the organization(s) with a means of talking secretly not only can't secretly discuss the conspiracy, they can't even know about it (even if they'd be willing to help!)

I mean, it wouldn't have made Selwyn's attempt go any better, and potentially would have made things much worse, but it's a problem for the future, isn't it?

Huh, yeah.

I mean, the person pulled in could make hints at having contacts and get permission to bring them in, or the Vow/whatever can be phrased carefully, but...hm.

that's a bit of a thorny problem.

(Also, I'm assuming the Vow broke on Selwyn's death, or something like that, which was nice of him.)

Now that I think about it, it might have broken on Voldemort's death.

That would make sense, in a way, but Minerva was still being evasive about the whole thing up until a while after Selwyn died. Though I suppose she might not have been sure precisely when it broke.

yeah, that rather surprised me. I had wondered if she'd been maintaining radio silence recently because she'd been working with Selwyn/whatever happened when Voldemort got disembodied, but I dismissed that when she started talking about negotiating factions and stuff.

I hope she gets out of this all right.
