Ahahaha I was just coming in here to post that link because CALLED IT TOTALLY CALLED IT. (I made my suspicions explicit to one of the players, who has been rather biting their lip on commentary since.)
Your point 11 from that thread is what convinced me it was likely back then ("It is not useful to kill already disabled targets when actively searching for information and when under specific orders to not take out any wizards permanently; killing Stephen risks Barty noticing that she disobeyed."), so I can only imagine how much lip/tongue/entire face the player in question must have been biting :D
Woo! And Rachel seems to be temperamentally suited to Dogstar, too, she's not a "Dogstar but should have been Order" like Norma Brownmiller was.
I had wondered if she were part of a rebel group, but I couldn't find enough clues to prove it to myself. Rachel's player, you've been very good at keeping her cover!
Not as sure about the temperament thing as all that, actually. We've been having discussions about how Dogstar doesn't really give a shit about casualties, particularly muggle casualties, and...
Okay, so, last night I thought she had wind of Barty's plot because she did her usual "I'm haunted by something awful" booty-call to Bill, sans booty call portion? And she acted - possibly on her own initiative from hints dropped here - to try to protect a handful of brutalised non-magical girls.
My wild guess is that she thinks working with Dogstar is worth it for whatever reason, even if she doesn't entirely agree with them (based on what you've noted).
Either way she seems to have adapted pretty well to her situation.
(Also, huh, I hadn't thought of that last night. I mean, she was clearly bothered by something, but I hadn't connected the dots)
There is that. I was thinking more about how she killed Stephen without apparent need for forethought and then just went on with her business, and how prepared she was to injure Bill even though I think she likes him. So I wasn't thinking so much about whether she cares for Muggles as how she feels about violence.
(Speaking here as someone who's producing epic quantities of Alternity fanfic,) it's fucking amazing what a Ravenclaw is capable of pulling off when they've worked their way around to logically mandated necessity, even against base personality.
Might rip 'em to shreds later, but the logic of the situation is its own law.
Last night was full of interesting tidbits, I thought.
(Like her making clear in subtext that she was "adopted", for example, which made me decide that I agreed with whoever called it on her being the Brodie kid.)
Sooo... not to be shamelessly proud but I am totally doing a jig over having called it! I had been hoping that she would be the Brodie kid for sooo long. Oh Dolohov, your chickens are coming home to roost in a major way.
Ahh. I'd say post it to AO3 at the end. But I'd still love to read it as we go if you are ameable. Obviously, treating it entirely as fic and not canon until game posting would be the circumstance at the current time.

I really want to poke at the insides of her head. It's so hard, with her being (sensibly!) secretive.
(Oh, look, new character to add to the WHAT IS GOING ON IN YOUR HEAD list.)
