Am I over thinking things if I confess a little concern at his use of the term "chit" to refer to Megan? It seems to me it is more often than not used in the derogatory sense.
I went back to re-read the passage where he used that. To me, it sounds like typical teenage guy speak for a girl he's never met. Yes, semi-derogatory, as in here is this young girl who I haven't met and am judging (based on my mother) that she doesn't have a brain in her head.
But overall, he seems to have a very good head on his shoulder about women. He treats Sally-Anne with respect. And after getting it knocked into his head by Sally-Anne, he has been respectful of Maureen's feelings. He hasn't approached her, etc. since he found out what happened to her and joining the Order himself. He's waiting for her to decide what she feels about him.
