I can think of a bunch of scenarios for what's going on with them, but I can't for the life of me work out which is most likely, and trying to work it out by looking at earlier posts is not particularly helping.

Siz's PM to Toshenka and Raz and Sally-Anne's commentary on her discussion with Doholov seem like they should be indicative, but I can't work out of what, especially with this.

And then when you compare back to the various things we collected here...

I'm not making much sense of it all, but I might be missing something.

My thought was that it was agreed Tosha could be more useful protecting Draco, and getting information on the game, if he and Lucius were to show some distance or disagreement. Which I believe Corax has just pounced on, given his historical issues with Lucius.

That could make sense as a motive, which is what I was lacking for that option.

Reading this a bit and going back to read what exactly Lucius and Tosha wrote...did Tosha take the Unbreakable Vow to protect Draco? There hasn't been the obvious need as Draco didn't before have a task to complete as he did in Half-Blood Prince, but it is 6th year. And as Tosha says "I keep my vows".

Arrgh...I wish we knew more about these challenges and the end game. But I know that is all part of reading along.

I was assuming it was a promise of the more usual variety. (Or, actually, at the time when it was written, I was wondering what/which vow he was referring to. But that's not the point). Which is entirely possibly too, because there's no obvious reason. But. Hm.

(Yeah, it would be nice, but we'd also lose the fun (and not-so-fun, the, um... interestingness?) of watching it develop.)

Edit: Challenge endgame, I mean. Interesting potential consequences in general, though.

Which reminds me of something that puzzled me: I thought Cadmus was dead (from the Fiendfyre on his house), and that Corax's "Whoever did this they will pay" was to a deceased person's journal, much like the Weasleys have occasionally written private messages to Arthur.

I was so disappointed to realize I had been wrong! :D

Heh. I suspect that if/when someone manages to take out Cadmus, Bill and Jeremy's terrible awful no good day at work will be hard to miss!

That was approximately what I was hoping at the time, too. I was rather sad when I got to the bit where someone mentioned that Cadmus wasn't in the house when it happened.
