Hydra informs the Order that her mother has discovered her Legilimency. Draco invites Daphne to breakfast before taking the train back to school. Megan needs Sally-Anne's help with a situation on the Stretton farm. Sally-Anne obtains Jeremy's intercession for Megan. Sirius waits for news of the Bedford trip. Ginny connects with Luna again.
5 January
Ron leaves his vigil. Kingsley reports the suicide of one of the recent refugees. Sally-Anne feels relieved to be back at school. Evelyn receives assistance from an unexpected quarter.

Draco imparts to Harry and Hermione his plan to ingratiate himself to Voldemort. Pansy arranges time to work on Dark Arts assignments.

Seamus reveals to Padma that Hydra is a powerful Legilimens. Linus receives part of an endowment which will benefit the library.

Padma thanks Lana Sandoval-Pennifold for a particular pin. Ron shows Sally-Anne the pin he received. Ginny asks to see his pin. Seamus conspires with Padma and Blaise. Sally-Anne analyzes Avery's initiation letter to Ron. Lucius passes along an order from Voldemort: Percy will be clerical support to the competition. Draco decides to have a reception for the candidates. Professor Lestrange offers his assistance to Draco and Harry. Ron consults Professor Dumbledore. Hydra begs the Order's forbearance while the junior members talk through their circumstances. Remus confines his commentary to a private sidechat with Sirius and Tonks. Hermione checks on Harry.
