Sally-Anne tells Alice and Madam Pomfrey of her application for a course at St Mungo's over the holidays.

7 December
Padma notes a strange correspondence between her sister's errands and business closures. Tonks continues her attempts to train Walburga's portrait. Snape informs Alice that so far the antidote is a failure.

8 December
Daphne invites most of the student body to a day of remembrance. Charlie recommends things to combat Tonks' cabin fever, along with a few baby names.

9 December
Hermione finds one of the test subjects dead. Snape brings the news to Madam Pomfrey and Alice. Luna asks Colin if he knows anything about the rest of his family. Molly hopes that they'll rescue James Prescott if they also go for Lucius Malfoy. Bill discusses Charlie's impending fatherhood with him. George assures Pansy that he will have suitable attire to escort her at the holidays.

10 December
Cedric checks on Linus's year as Head Boy. Headmaster Dolohov requests an account from Madam Pomfrey for necessary purchases for the coming year. Madam Pomfrey sends a private message to two prefects. Neville contemplates his final winter among Hogwarts' greenery. Seamus discovers that private messages can go to more than two people now. Lana plans her romantic weekend with Ned.

11 December
Ptolemy Baddock promises to get to the bottom of the private message difficulties. Evelyn arranges a final meeting with the Headmaster to work on her Arabic. Headmaster Dolohov verifies Linus's findings from a side project.

12 December
Ernie looks forward to Hogsmeade. Madam Pomfrey issues a warning about a particularly popular curse. Cedric alerts the Order that Headmaster Dolohov is questioning Professor Sprout. Alice sounds a general alarm. Harry lists the other students who should be evacuated if necessary. Madam Pomfrey warns that the Floos at Hogwarts have been closed. Jeremy asks Sally-Anne to make sure that Phillip is all right. Headmaster Dolohov suggests that Professor Sinistra let herself into his rooms to wait for him. Professor Sinistra relays his message to the Order. Professor Sandoval-Pennifold demands that the Gryffindors quiet down in the Common Room. Bellatrix instructs Hydra to mobilize MLE. Ron repeats Bellatrix's orders on Hydra's behalf. Hydra complies with her mother's demand. A student inquires whether the Galleoneers should try to delay MLE's Enforcers. Harry says no. Susan adds that the infirmary is a safe place to wait. Lavender sends a student to the Hospital Wing. Professor Desai inserts herself into the incident. Someone spots Bellatrix at the school. Dolohov enlists Lana's help to contain the situation. Remus calls for the Hogwarts staff in the Order to check in. Lavender wonders what the Head Boy and Girl know. Linus volunteers the Prefects to help. Professor Desai delivers a status report. Linus has the Prefects send the students back to their dormitories. Sally-Anne reports to Dolohov that Madam Pomfrey is gone. Susan ascertains the status of the Order juniors at Hogwarts. Ron observes that Dumbledore is still in the castle. Headmaster Dolohov concludes that Professor Sinistra has fled. He also recalls Professor Desai and Bellatrix. Dumbledore notifies the Order that Professor Sprout is dead. Headmaster Dolohov cancels Astronomy for the night and promises explanations in the morning. A Galleoneer wants to know what's happening.

13 December
A Galleoneer claims that four people have been killed. Someone balks at the news. Another corrects the rumour. Harry also clarifies that three of the four got away. Someone else wants to know if Desai and Sandoval were Cruciated. A Galleoneer thinks they were not. Someone adds Professor Sinistra's escape as well. Headmaster Dolohov unloads onto Barty. Daphne revises her plan to exclude Padma and Seamus from the remembrance ceremony. Moody provides a list of contacts in Ireland. Neville asks Susan and Justin how Hufflepuff is taking their losses. Professor Desai comes up with a list of potential replacement staff. Seamus processes the extent of treachery in the school.

14 December
Professor Sinistra checks on Cedric. Cedric rattles off the names he can remember from his last glimpse of the book. Evelyn feigns shock and offers to winterize the astronomy tower. Pansy describes the memorial event.

15 December
Headmaster Dolohov recounts his progress to Barty. Sally-Anne encounters Headmaster Dolohov raiding the medicine cupboards in the Hospital Wing. Dolohov informs Narcissa that Barty is home. Alice begs Moody to check in. Hydra shares her observations from the remembrance ceremony. Tonks mourns Professor Sprout.

16 December
Daphne learns that she is the new mistress of Spencer House. Dumbledore offers phoenix feathers for wand cores. Narcissa arranges to get Rachel her asking price for the Azkaban breakout. Ron notes that the duelling salle is in a horrible state. Rachel receives Narcissa's message and tells Alice she'll be collecting. Sirius thanks Remus for his unintentionally funny present.

17 December
Justin inquires whether there is anything Cedric left behind that he would like returned. Snape invites Professor Sinistra to be a sounding board for his Potions conundrum.

18 December
Seamus wonders about Padma's progress digging into the Slytherin girls' dormitory. Justin verifies that Ron's invitation to stay with the Weasleys will not be an imposition.

19 December
Bill probes deeper into what might have given Professor Sprout's affiliation away. Alice gives the Order a pep talk. Linus plays with colored inks.
