Padma notes a strange correspondence between her sister's errands and business closures. Tonks continues her attempts to train Walburga's portrait. Snape informs Alice that so far the antidote is a failure.
8 December
Daphne invites most of the student body to a day of remembrance. Charlie recommends things to combat Tonks' cabin fever, along with a few baby names.
9 December
Hermione finds one of the test subjects dead. Snape brings the news to Madam Pomfrey and Alice. Luna asks Colin if he knows anything about the rest of his family. Molly hopes that they'll rescue James Prescott if they also go for Lucius Malfoy. Bill discusses Charlie's impending fatherhood with him. George assures Pansy that he will have suitable attire to escort her at the holidays.
10 December
Cedric checks on Linus's year as Head Boy. Headmaster Dolohov requests an account from Madam Pomfrey for necessary purchases for the coming year. Madam Pomfrey sends a private message to two prefects. Neville contemplates his final winter among Hogwarts' greenery. Seamus discovers that private messages can go to more than two people now. Lana plans her romantic weekend with Ned.
11 December
Ptolemy Baddock promises to get to the bottom of the private message difficulties. Evelyn arranges a final meeting with the Headmaster to work on her Arabic. Headmaster Dolohov verifies Linus's findings from a side project.
12 December
Ernie looks forward to Hogsmeade. Madam Pomfrey issues a warning about a particularly popular curse. Cedric alerts the Order that Headmaster Dolohov is questioning Professor Sprout. Alice sounds a general alarm. Harry lists the other students who should be evacuated if necessary. Madam Pomfrey warns that the Floos at Hogwarts have been closed. Jeremy asks Sally-Anne to make sure that Phillip is all right. Headmaster Dolohov suggests that Professor Sinistra let herself into his rooms to wait for him. Professor Sinistra relays his message to the Order. Professor Sandoval-Pennifold demands that the Gryffindors quiet down in the Common Room. Bellatrix instructs Hydra to mobilize MLE. Ron repeats Bellatrix's orders on Hydra's behalf. Hydra complies with her mother's demand. A student inquires whether the Galleoneers should try to delay MLE's Enforcers. Harry says no. Susan adds that the infirmary is a safe place to wait. Lavender sends a student to the Hospital Wing. Professor Desai inserts herself into the incident. Someone spots Bellatrix at the school. Dolohov enlists Lana's help to contain the situation. Remus calls for the Hogwarts staff in the Order to check in. Lavender wonders what the Head Boy and Girl know. Linus volunteers the Prefects to help. Professor Desai delivers a status report. Linus has the Prefects send the students back to their dormitories. Headmaster Dolohov concludes that Professor Sinistra has fled. He also recalls Professor Desai and Bellatrix. Dumbledore notifies the Order that Professor Sprout is dead. Headmaster Dolohov cancels Astronomy for the night and promises explanations in the morning. A Galleoneer wants to know what's happening.
