I'm just glad I managed to unpack my HP books; in between refreshes, I've been rereading the last part of HBP all afternoon! If they manage to get outside reinforcements in, I'm curious who they'll be.

Summary from the last thread:

Hermione wrote Draco a letter. Draco replied. Nott obtained at least one of those letters, and sent it on to his father.

The Mulcibers, Nott Sr., and Bellatrix came to investigate. (Link goes to their investigation post.)

Raz warned Sinistra that something was going on. (The previous thread's consensus was that it was a code of some sort.)

Hermione had her Portkey, but Bellatrix took her bracelet and wand away (and cut off the finger on which she was wearing her ring).

Draco probably does not have his special Galleon anymore.

Letter from Hermione may have been faked, mind, if Teddy stole her transfer box?

If it was faked, Teddy knows an awful lot more than he should, or than I thought he did, though it's not impossible. (It doesn't mention wanting a wand, for example, but I don't think Teddy knew she had one, and I would think Teddy pretending to be Hermione would think she wanted a wand.)

The biggest point in favor is "I know you don't want to hear it", but not enough to rule out that it's genuine.

Teddy's mind is complicated to predict, I think. And there's no point wanting a wand if one knows one can't get one, yeah?

I think Teddy could have written that on the assumption that Draco was teaching her things she could do without the wand, or that it would be an interesting thing to suggest and see what happens? Since they were lurking in a secret room together...

I just remembered that Hydra legilmised her, didn't she? We have confirmation she really doesn't think that way, she's not just saying it. Right?

So the whole thing was a trick, then, which Draco fell for because he was drunk and wanted it so much, timed so that there would be evidence of misdeeds once Draco was an adult. :|

At the very least we can infer from this that Hermione is still alive and concious enough to cry. At that moment, at least.

I think they are allowed to be paranoid. They don't have a lot of reason to trust him, after all.

Absolutely. They haven't legilmised him as Snape has, or had the long conversations with him that Alice has had.

On the other hand, if he does end up dying rather than revealing their secrets, yes, I imagine they'd all feel really terrible about themselves. (But I hope he doesn't.)

If I remember right, he was "threatening to leave the Order just last month" because of just this kind of thing.

If Draco hasn't sold them out in the FOUR HOURS he's been under torture, why the heck would he do so now?

If the adults don't feel loyalty, how can they expect the ISS to? Alice reamed Ron out for much less.

Because this gives him a chance of getting out without giving away everything? (I'm not saying he will, unless he's pretty sure Hermione can get away, but they don't know all the background)

They're not saying that they should abandon him, they're saying they should be ready to evacuate if necessary. Which makes sense, in any case.
