I have just been rereading the last week or so of posts (because wow, a LOT happened in a very short time, and I didn't want to miss anything) and I'm wondering/concerned about two things mentioned but not yet followed up on.

The first is, why is Arista Selwyn avoiding Draco after making such a point of reaching out to him? Was she in classes as Colin said, or is there something else going on there? What could be the reason she decided not to meet him? Maybe nothing, but I'm very hmmmm-y today for some reason.

Second hmm: what is the extra information concerning Harry that Bellatrix left unsaid in her message to Antonin Dolohov? Could it have anything to do with the "insignificant bits" Nott Jr edited out of the recordings showing Draco and Hermione meeting in the secret room? I'm wondering if Bellatrix was the one who edited them, not Nott Jr, because they also showed Harry meeting Draco and Hermione (and maybe others) in the secret room.

On the one hand, Bellatrix may be shielding Harry from suspicion because of His Ponciness.

On the other hand, the case against her nephew isn't as strong if the recordings showed other people meeting in that room. Which either means she hasn't realized that yet, or she has realized it, and doesn't care, because Harry is the important one to her.

Also, is it possible those edited bits could be found and used to clear Draco? Or would they even be enough, since the letter has been determined authentic (still want to know what that thing says, btw).

Anyway. Got my thinking cap on, if anyone cares to speculate with me!

Arista's player is out of town; when I had Draco write to her, I didn't know if she would be able to respond or not, so I tried to make it seem as if it could stand alone without a response. Perhaps I didn't quite get there, though.

Can Arista read Draco's message though? It is addressed to her and not her father and/or Alice.

Now that she's used the lock, I figure she can read messages written under it if she wants. And people can read messages written to them no matter which journal they use to read the message.

Replying would be more complicated than reading -- Colin has to CC Frank on everything, for example -- but she is using a family journal, and given that Selwyn is deceased and Arista is now the sole user, it might bend things a little.

Oh, ok, that makes sense! I did wonder if that was it, but it was a stone so I had to turn it in case there was something to be found underneath, so to speak. I'm the Queen of Overthinking!

I'm a little confused about Arista too. Draco avoided seeing her when he went to Moddey, he says as much to Hermione here, but when he writes Arista, he makes it sound like it was the other way around. It's a little odd. Unless he didn't want to admit to her that he avoided her, but wants to see her now?

I just assumed he was teasing her, making it sound like it was her avoiding him, in order to draw her out. In the way an older brother might do.

I thought it was partly that, and partly that having recovered a little, he wanted to approach Arista after her kind words, so wanted to minimise the fact that he had avoided her. And I think that was to spare hurting her feelings.

I think we are all reading so much into each post, because the players have set things up so well, that sometimes tiny things from months ago become significant in hindsight.
It says a lot about the plotting and writing that so many of us are so engaged.

Does any one else experience a frequent urge to respond to some of the posts as they get me so worked up? I post to alt fen to prevent me shouting at my Ipad.

Yes, I experience that urge all the time. I want to comment on their posts saying NO SERIOUSLY USE YOUR BRAIN or whatever. :D

I have a similar problem F5ing or checking back all the time for NPCs to reply, when we know they don't have journals.....
