I was wondering the same thing! Surely there wouldn't be a new character just to let us know when private messages start being archived again. I don't even remember who's friends with Karo, for us to have gotten any hints about what Ptolemy was like, aside from rebuffing Percy's overtures after Percy became a Councilwizard.
Well, Karo and Lana are good friends. I think they were in the same year. And there is the stuff with Ptolemy's father, Ari Baddock, and 'our' DEs.
And then there is the recent spat of 'corrections'. I think that Dolohov is having some significant concerns about the LP's stability.
I am ridiculously pleased that Dolohov and Barty are not sharing a home now. So many opportunities for journal conversations. Probably too pleased, and probably too trusting of the continued journal issues.
I had the vague impression that Ptolemy worked on the journals. Can anyone confirm? If so, this new project they're working extremely hard on kind of worries me: what if they're about to figure out how to use the journals to locate people? I wonder if it would work on the Locks, though? Hope not, or things are about to get very interesting!
I'm pretty sure it's just making private messages searchable at the Ministry - they're working so hard on it because it shouldn't have taken this long. Bill estimated they could do it by July 25th, after all.
Looks like Savitha Desai is setting herself up to be hated.
I suspect, with Lana out of the loop in Hogwarts, Ptolemy will be used to give us the younger persons view of life at the cutting edge of New London society. Rachel will be able to fill in much of the Auror side of things, and presumably Desai will also be kept informed of major development there.
