keshwyn: "Read Instead" on the front of a television (reading)

Rod's parting comment to Daphne gave me physical chills last night. It reads like a cult indoctrination. The utter certainty of correctness. The utter implacability of time that she WILL come around to thinking like him. I'm really glad this didn't happen when Daphne was younger, and I'm *really* glad she's got the Order to pull her out of the echo chamber if Rod puts her in one.

I'm used to hearing that sort of line from the good guys in other stories, but hearing it come from him made me stop and question whether it's a good thing when the heroes say things like that, either.

Goosebumps. And definitely scarier than Bellatrix. She might tear the body apart, but Rod's going after minds and souls.

I'm also interested in Lanas sudden desire for kids. While everything she is saying seems to be about Ned, we know Rod is really into continuing the Lestrange line.
Could there be a chance that her messages to Ned are a smokescreen and things are developing further with Rod?
She sounded so passionate in her message to Sarah Yaxley, and she has never shown those kind of feelings for Ned.
Either that or someone has used a love potion or something similar on her.

I definitely think she's planning on a child with Rod, and hoping to pass it off as Ned's. I just don't think Rod is going to let any child of his be raised as someone else's.

Would be interesting if she is already pregnant and needs the cover. But I'm not sure that the fertility spells would have such an effect if that were the case. I am curious as to how she is continuing to see Rod (I have no doubt that she is).

I was thinking that too. I wonder if what she felt was just a weird side effect from already being pregnant, and it's not usually that strong.

But given how proud Rod is of having extraordinary magical children, maybe he's not interested in having a baby with tier two blood? I don't know if he would go so far as to pressure her to terminate the pregnancy, but it would be super creepy/interesting (for us) if he did.

If she is pregnant with Rod's child, they are definitely not hooking up at Hogwarts all the time (given the magical protections of the castle). More late night floos to the Lestrange residence, maybe?

Didn't Antonin say that at times she wasn't working she was free to leave the school? She is a council witch after all.
As far as Ned knows, her time off would be quite restricted, so as long as she makes some time for him I doubt he has any suspicions.

From her behavior and the fact that before now it seemed like Ned was the one pushing to start a family, I'm guessing some variation of love spell or potion.

Though the "already pregnant by Rod" theory is a good one, I don't think Lana would be willing to set her dignity aside and behave so out of character just to cover up an illicit sprog.
