Oh, Hermione!

Poor thing, you can't blame her for being drawn out by such baiting. The Order has put her in such an impossible position, and then they jump in and tsk her when she is herself. Ouch, ouch, ouch! If only she'd been a Slytherin rather than a Gryffindor by nature, she'd have an easier time of it.

She's acting totally understandably. As precocious as she is, she's only 11, and in such a difficult situation. But even an understandable mistake on her part could attract the kind of attention that might get the Order exposed, and that means there are lives at stake, including the lives of other children. It was chilling when Arthur threatened to Obliviate all her memories of the Order and her magic studies, but I also think that *would* be the right call for him to make if she became too much of a risk.

I'm glad Harry at least seems to be treating her like a friend. Did you notice how he went out of his way to bring up her blood being red (http://alt-harry.livejournal.com/8416.html?thread=126944#t126944)?
