HA. Harry on why he and Ron are in trouble for flying the car to school: "I dont know, because grown-ups are stupid? I think Father thought that I should have found an Auror.
Only there arent enough Aurors that they can just walk around all the time. Or be there when you need them."

Grown-ups are stupid. Aren't they just?

Ron: What are you going to say for the question about how to get muggles from one camp to another?

Sally-Anne: I said I'd have them ride centaurs. You should say that, too. Do your own homework Ron.

Also: was Muggle Studies ever specifically established as a non-OWL class? Is it first and second years only?

I think we rolled out Muggle Studies in Y2 as sort of a Protectorate Propaganda class that everyone was required to take for a while and then eliminated it altogether in Y3, but I can't remember for sure.

September 27, Ron decides he'd like to be an Auror:

"It would be dead brilliant to be an Auror. I mean, to learn how to go about and not ever have anyone notice you, to be able to creep up on a target and watch them without them knowing you're there. Brilliant."

Some nice unintentional foreshadowing there!

I think Hydra actually did NOT want to be an Auror, because she did not want to be like her mother. So "I will be an Auror" is more a sigh of resignation, like "either I'll marry Harry or I'll end up doing this, I guess."

And then it became her life's calling, and Ron's. Heh.

If you're ever inclined, I'd love to hear more about Hydra's evolution as an Auror...like when did it move from something she had to do for the war effort to her life's calling?

Ah, in her last public post she said: "To make up for all the misdeeds I've done, I will remain a servant of Albion for as long as I am physically and mentally able. I swear to do my best to help keep this new world safe for everyone, whether pureblood, halfblood, muggleborn, or muggle."

So basically, she saw herself as keeping a promise to the people, not only to make up for what she herself did as a Death Eater, but probably to try to make up for what her parents did, and Barty did, etc.

But she was also good at being an Auror, and eventually learned to enjoy it for herself.

I totally forgot that the journals got 'switched...' was that decision made to justify adding PMs later?

No -- we were moving to Dreamwidth, and it was a way to kind of make that part of the story.
