Narcissa apologises on Barty's behalf for an incident at tea involving a disgruntled would-be girlfriend. Sally-Anne remarks that the Hogsmeade day was short but productive. Padma has more to say about the Hogsmeade trip.

Sirius consults Poppy after the infant in his and Frank's care gets worse overnight. Ernie looks forward to seeing his family again. Frank lets Poppy and the others know what measures they are taking for Will's health. Ron struggles with a Runes essay. Lucius starts his clerk's work week early.
13 December
Sirius reassesses Will after a tense night. Zacharias ponders the value of maturity in girls, prompted by a mean-spirited quiz. Sally-Anne registers her indignation over the quiz behind the ISS lock. Harry disapproves privately to Draco. Lavender coaxes two others to tell her their answers. Susan implores her brother to calm down about the quiz. She also expresses her concern for Eloise Midgen, privately, to Hannah.
14 December
Percy confiscates the copies of the 3rd-year quiz. Narcissa arranges to meet with Professor Sinistra over the holidays. Sally-Anne composes her own list of usual suspects. Director Selwyn begs Narcissa's help on a Christmas shopping mission. Barty Crouch, Jr. enumerates six tasks for his clerk. Professor Sinistra writes privately to her mother to help her prepare for her luncheon with Narcissa. Sirius reassures Frank that the Order's collective disapproval of their actions is fleeting. Padma encounters Professor Carrow at less than his best.

Hannah finds Eloise Midgen hiding in the lavatory. Bill provides the highlights of the Ministry holiday party. Hydra Lestrange wonders if her uncle can ban future lists like the one the third-year students circulated. Madam Pomfrey grumps over the continuous coverage of "Black's" remains on display. Pansy thanks Harry for an action. Harry elaborates his comments which prompted Pansy's gratitude. Sally-Anne checks on Pansy in the wake of Teddy Nott's thoughtlessly morbid remarks. Lavender imparts unwelcome news regarding visiting Black's body and hosting Luna over holidays. Dean frets to his guardian about his persistent reputation, despite his efforts to improve his status. Ron cheers the oncoming holiday break, to Harry's chagrin.
16 December
Professor Lestrange approaches Professor Sinistra to make amends. Sally-Anne realizes how much she misses Christmases at home. Percy conspires with Neville to stop Ron putting his foot in his mouth further with Harry, Draco, and others. Seamus mocks Neville for causing an accident in Transfiguration. Professor Carrow rails at the mess in his classroom. Madam Pomfrey confines Carrow to the hospital wing, sedated. Lucius offers Draco the option of staying at Hogwarts along with Harry and Hydra. Seamus asks Padma the gossip about a Cruciating in the library. Penelope resents being evicted from the library due to the altercation. Percy contacts the Head Girl for a breakfast meeting. Luna gives some unsolicited advice about recovering from the Cruciatus curse.
17 December
Lucius issues early-morning orders to his clerk. Ron promises injury if Percy tries to control him again. Alice announces a plan to gather the Order for a Christmas celebration. Bellatrix consents to Hydra's request to stay at Hogwarts for most of the holiday. Hydra congratulates herself and Harry on their scheme. Sally-Anne thinks she can teach the ISS kids the eye-blurring hex that was the object of people's attention the night before. Susan proposes forming an association of those deemed "strange" by the 3rd-year quiz. Padma admits to Seamus her role in the quiz's authorship.
