These girls. They just stop me dead in my tracks sometimes, as with this subthread about how they'll never go anywhere without each other.

The love and loyalty that canon shows us between the trio comes out in other friendships in this game, and Pansy and Sally-Anne are top of the list in my reading. Here's to you, players. You make me tear up in the best way.

Whose friendships are you particularly moved by, [livejournal.com profile] alt_fen?

I'm totally with you there.

I still mourn for the lack of the trio here in Alternityverse. It's painful beyond the sadness of Hermione's situation, or the way Harry's position has left him stunted and isolated, or the way Ron spins off-kilter because he lacks the sort of male best friend who would be an idiot with him--beyond all those individual losses, I miss the trio.

The other alternity friendship that I found surprisingly moving is/was the funny, transgressive, sad friendship Pansy had with Regulus Black. If you haven't seen it, have a look at her comments on his last post (http://alt-regulus.dreamwidth.org/7783.html?nc=36&style=mine#comments), some of them from the anniversary of his disappearance.

I adore Pansy and Sally-Anne (and I would like them to run the world when they grow up, too.)

I agree with [livejournal.com profile] lapin_agile about the Trio, though I remain fascinated by Draco and Harry. (And particularly Draco being cranky about Harry's actions and assumptions, recently.)

On the adult side, I love Alice's relationships with pretty much everyone, and watching her try to be there, in difficult times, even though her actual presence to help is limited.

I've been loving Hydra and Justin -- seeing her finally feeling safe enough around someone to really speak her mind, and how sweet they are to one another is just awesome.

I also like how quietly steady and supportive a lot of the ISS kids are with one another -- the twins and Terry Boot for one. But Pansy and Sally-Anne definitely make my heart happy.

It is no end of sad to see Harry and Ron not be the best of all friends, and to see his friendship with Hermione so imbalanced and warped. But I've found his relationship with Draco to be fascinating -- and am looking forward to seeing how it develops!

Speaking of Hydra and Justin, I feel like I just have to point out this (http://alt-hydra.dreamwidth.org/15653.html?thread=204069#cmt204069) - the strikethrough is so telling.

Oh, Hydra!

I've never commented in this community before, but has anyone else noticedhttp://alt-hydra.dreamwidth.org/icons (http://alt-hydra.dreamwidth.org/icons) Hydra's icon descriptions? Makes me a bit worried for those two...

The lines from Yeats are evocative, aren't they? And, I agree, ominous of and for Hydra. Even more with this older set of icons, I think, than her younger ones.

What do you make of the lines in relation to Hydra?

The second Yeats poem has some lines for which there aren't icons (yet?):
Half close your eyelids, loosen your hair,
And dream about the great and their pride;
They have spoken against you everywhere,
But weigh this song with the great and their pride;
I made it out of a mouthful of air,
Their children's children shall say they have lied.
That last phrase seems especially apt for Alternity, I think.

Indeed. I had never encountered that full poem before, thank you!

And I have no idea what to make of the lines, except to say that they are evocative of her situation, where her gentle and loving personality is utterly unsuited to the life she is expected to lead. I've always thought they foreshadowed an unhappy ending for her, where she gives up the life she really wants, but as I get more and more attached to her and she comes into her own more and more, I'm really hoping that's not the case! Hydra has become one of my favourites in the game.

The puppyshipper in me is loving the way that Remus and Sirius are making room for Tonks. I know some Wolfstar people (myself included) were initially disappointed when Remus and Tonks got together, but I have to say that the complications of the blended-family and watching them all take care of Bea is not only an improvement on canon because it gives us R/S, it's an improvement, IMO, on the whole R/T thing, too.

But beyond that, I'm also liking the Hufflepuffs, especially the girls, and the *teachers*. Seeing Pomona was great, and I'm loving how the game is bringing out the strength of women like Poppy and Aurora, too.

Karen Healey (who is awesome, y'all should all go read her) coined the term "sromance" because we don't have a good word that's comparable to "bromance."

And yes, I am absolutely loving the Epic Sromance of Sally-Anne and Pansy.

It might sound funny, but I really like the relationship between Padma and Lavender; they might be mean girls to other people, but there's a core of genuine fondness to the way they interact.

I also love the sweet friendship that Sirius and especially Remus have with Alice.
