He appears to have solidified where his loyalties lie, and sadly it's not with the people who actually care about him as a person.
(...and now I have proceeded to second-guess myself and gone over several ways what's going on could not be as it appears, mostly because Lucius feels like he's acting somewhat... uncharacteristicly. I actually was worried early-on that he'd stumbled across something illict with the joke shop and was trying to disassociate Pansy, but that appears to not the case, thankfully.)
