But it makes sense for the Protectorate to use great literature to try to reinforce their worldview.

My concern for Draco is that he is going to get distracted a little by Padma. After all Ron didn't want to impede his chances in the competition.

Yeah, Padma as she is right now is certainly a distraction. Feel sorry for her too. They didn't make her like Draco, he's just who her heart desires.

I kind of hope Draco isn't a jerk about it. Apologetic and firm, but decent. You know? And really, now he knows how it feels to have someone like you whom you don't like. So maybe it's a good thing.

But rewriting Shakespeare is nothing new.
The Lamb's rewrote it as Tales from Shakespeare, a book for Children.
I had a copy of Macbeth as a child that had the original on one page and a modern poetic version opposite.
There have been comic book style animations, versions set in different historic eras.
You may dislike them doing it, but it is really not unusual.

Oh and it is such a shame Padma had enough sense left to write that as a PM. Draco is probably too private an individual to share it with others, but Sally-Ann and Pansy would love it.

Oh and I've been rereading from the beginning recently.

Back in year 1 , Lucius says that Revati Patel has approached him worried that Padma is being inappropriate in her delight at befriending Draco.
Has she been nursing a crush all these years? And if so have the players been planning this, or is it just coincidental?

I know Shakespeare gets rewritten a lot, and I'm even fond of some of those versions. What bothers me is that they injected racism (magicism?)into it.

Cutting out her heart and making it stop sounds like a pretty severe choice. Like the sort you don't come back from.

This is getting messy. And I'm more worried Ron will get great marks for his plan than I am about Patil.
Did you see what she wrote about Dean Thomas? There really is nothing nice about her

Yeah, I am absolutely more worried about Ron - both that he'll get great marks and that he'll be pleased with himself, when (Padma's own horrible-ness aside) he really did do something terribly wrong.

And I'm worried about Draco's and Ron's ability to work together in the Order, too - Draco asked "what did you give her, so it can be fixed?" and Ron was all "ha ha ha wait I mean oh no oh no that's terrible" :(

Yep, they (Ron, etc) should have let Draco in on it from the beginning. Even if one of Ron's targets could have been Draco, I think Draco might have gone along with things with Padma, had he known what was up.
