Invisibility cloak?

How likely is it that Sirius has the Invisibility Cloak? Perhaps not very likely that he would have forgotten about it though. Thoughts? I seem to recall it was supposed to show up around now.

You mean the other thing Sirius found whilst rummaging about for photos?

That's a really interesting idea, qwerty. I agree, though, I'd need some way to explain how he could have forgotten having it. Perhaps he just couldn't deal with any of James's things he'd kept -- perhaps he'd stuffed them in a trunk and not thought about them for ages? Don't know. Clearly, it would be a v. useful thing for Sirius to have now!

That's exactly what I thought! I've been keeping an eye out for a mention of the cloak, and this is the first thing that has sounded like it.

It is odd that he would have forgotten, but remember that as readers of book 7 we know that the cloak is a Deathly Hallow and is extremely rare and valuable. Sirius wouldn't have known that. So he might have just put it away after James died and thought he'd get another invisibility cloak if he ever needed one, and then forgot about it.

And after James died, Peter "died," and Remus "betrayed the Order", it would have been pretty painful to think about his school days. So he probably tried to block as much as possible the memories that involved the cloak. So I think it's fairly plausible that it never really occurred to him until now that he had it and that it would be useful for his current Order activities.

Hello - as a rule, I try not to "speak" to y'all so as not to spoil your speculation, but in this case, I have to point out that nowhere does he say he "forgot" the item he mentions.

I didn't mean to say that he _had_ forgotten it, just that it might explain why it was in that box when one would think it would he would be using it for his activities. Assuming of course that it _is_ the cloak. :)

Well, assuming it _is_ the cloak, he can't wear it when he's transformed, and I would think (from experience with cloaks) that wearing a cloak on a motorcycle would be a significant hazard. So it's not surprising to me that he hasn't used the cloak before now. (Also, depending on what he suspects the Death Eaters know.)

(And if the player's splitting hairs about what Sirius said and didn't say, he didn't say he found it in a box or anything, either. It could have been hanging in the closet where the box of other stuff was. Or nearly anything. Just saying.)
