Are we really that close to the end of term? Two more weeks? The context to the subject line is Hermione telling Evelyn to just keep the portkey until the end of term, which on the one hand makes me really nervous (the end of term is usually extra-exciting, and this year it seems like we need to have Minerva (or, one supposes, Albus) be killed by someone, which should be extra excitement), and on the other hand makes me really, really nervous (since when has "oh it's only [short length of time], it'll be fine" gone well for anyone?).

There is going to be a lot of F5'ing in the next couple of weeks.

Because yes, it is the end of term, and things get real in June. And Nott exists. So yeah.

Hermione exasperates me to no end. Of course there's no Carrow at Hogwarts now, but there is someone who's just like him--who is fixated on her, no less!--and she's just like "La di da, here take my only means of escape because no one has threatened me or anything this term!" Honestly.

Really hoping Alice will tell her to take it back but I doubt it.

They were okay with her lending it to the folks going into the Forbidden Forest, even though there was a chance that a) they might use it and then she wouldn't have it anymore or b) she might need it while they were in the Forest. So I don't think anybody's going to tell her to take it back, unless they say "look, bad things always happen at the end of term, keep it with you until school starts again in" or something.

(I'm not sure whether I expect a bunch of people to get portkeyed out during this year's End of Term Catastrophe, or whether I expect the EoTC this year to be especially nail-bitery because some of it could have been avoided with the portkey. I'm leaning towards the first, only because portkeys are tracked, so someone using "Ellie's" portkey from Hogwarts is going to draw a lot of attention, and more attention = more excitement for the players (and us readers, of course))

The fact they now have 3 doses of freshly brewed Cinnabaris has raised my level of concern because if they have it they will almost certainly need it.
I really hope they are not planning 3 life or death type injuries in the near future.

That's slightly less worrying, but I still can't help feeling that they are going to need this Cinnabaris, and probably sooner rather than later.

I would be unsurprised if they did, especially considering we have an end-of-year event sometime soon. (Which is... concerning).

Though on that front, and regarding the conversation between Poppy and Dumbledore afterwards, there's something that strikes me as Painfully Fundamentally Albus about his position that the brave, bold, and daring thing to do right now is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

(Though he's right, scrambling Siz's brains would cause an unfortunate uproar.)

Especially when combined with Minerva's bracelet, Dolohov and Barty's task, the Who Wants to Be a Councilwizard? competitors being asked whom they would replace, and Sinistra now having seen more than she should!

Which could have unfortunate results.

That would be hilarious. Alas, I'm pretty sure at this point that Minerva won't make it to the end of the year.

Me too - she has the curse on her arm (directly from Voldemort rather than from a horcrux), she's not unlikely to have tried to ask for her death as a favor, and whoever kills her will look bad to the established government. (Her death also leaves the school without a headmistress, whereas Snape's death doesn't leave the school without anything, because Milland could be set free or trivially replaced.)

I just thought it was funny. :D

You know what sucks?

I'm going away camping in Wales on Saturday for a week. My phone screams that the battery is drained after 2 minutes on the internet and refuses to turn back on until I charge it. (Although, as soon as I plug it in to charge and turn it on, it says I have 95% battery. It's a temperamental bugger. )

So no internet during Alternity drama and this weather forecast. Considering that last year it was blazing hot and I spent the whole week sitting on the beach reading from year 3 to 5 as I had the PDFs on my kindle, this year is not going to be as great.
Yet I'm still going although I keep asking myself why.
