Not only is it enormously entertaining, and delightful to try to figure out what will happen next, it also provides a helpful reminder that these are not actually good guys after all :v

One of the most interesting things to me right now is how Hogwarts is adjusting for Dolohov. I wouldn't have expected such accomodation for him. Makes one wonder about what she senses.

Possibly his genuine belief in the value of a well rounded education, and his concern for the welfare of his students.
He may not be a good man, but he seems to be a good teacher.

Yeah, I think it's this: the castle doesn't require its Heads to be good people, just that they care for its students and want them to learn.

+1. I suspect the "no more fucking children dying on my fucking watch" has a great deal to do with it, but there's probably more than just that. Despite the excellent reminders of Death Eater evil re cackling over imminent Weasley destruction and the inevitable effects.

And speaking of imminent Weasley destruction, wow, Percy sounds really out of it in his message to Dolohov. I know Barty said he was going to use "a light compulsion", but Percy sounds like he's drunk!

Barty's probably used to stronger-minded people than Percy.

If ever there was someone you could be absolutely sure the Jedi mind trick would work on, Percy would be high on the list.

And at the same time as the "Oh yes, plotting horribly deadly mischief for various people with grand good humour" parts of not actually good guys, there's Dolohov dropping in the "I can't deal with the zombie army without finding myself wondering who these poor bastards were".
