At the moment, I'm anticipating that the baby is going to continue causing delays, and Bella's going to threaten to leave without them. I think Rod will choose his freedom over his child- after all, he can always have another. (Which honestly, I'd prefer Lana's labor continues- much better than Bella or Rod using the baby as a human shield.)

Honestly, I'd suspect Rod of using *Lana* as the shield rather than the baby! (Which would be a nasty shock to her self-importance, now, wouldn't it...)

I can see that too- but I think they both know that the Order wouldn't willingly fire on a child. I think being left behind with her pain (and later a screaming newborn) will be a fairly nasty shock, too.

Assuming he neither escapes nor dies, I wonder what will become of Rigel.

This is pretty out there, but Rigel can get into living people's heads, right? What if the dead can get into his? Justin could have told Rigel they were leaving?

I know. This is the first time I've genuinely felt sorry for Lana, knowing that she won't be able to see her baby again.

It looks like Hydra is considering bringing the baby for a visit, so Lana might get to have some contact in the coming years.

I wonder what Hydra will name her. Justine would be nice.

I have a young baby right now. The behaviour around Lana's baby has had me furious and tearful. I remember - from my first - the state of mind/brain chemistry she was in right after the baby was born; that was very, very genuine, extremely real to me as a mother.

I can understand a lot of the generalised descent into petty cruelties now that there isn't an enemy to unify them, mind. But.

I'm not sure I'd consider taking the baby away to be an act of petty cruelty. Lana is being arrested and will be tried for crimes against humanity/Albion/whatever. Getting thrown in prison is certainly grounds to take someone's child away. So it's a natural and appropriate consequence of Lana's actions. But I do feel sorry for her.

Thank you for saying that. Of course if Lana's in prison she can't care for the baby, but the not allowing her and Rod to see her--and Hermione's comment that she shouldn't even get to know her name--really, really isn't sitting well with me. I hope they relent on this.

And FWIW, I am not a mother.

I can see why Hermione feels that way, everything that's been taken from her. And though Rod and Lana weren't directly involved in anything she personally went through, it's not as though they disagreed, or would have done anything differently. For Hydra, between the unicorn mess and her own experience being raised by Rod, I can't blame her either.

I hope they do tell them Charlotte's name, and that she's brought for visitation, or at least that they're given those aging portraits the parents of the Moddey Dhoo kids got.

It's interesting that this prayer is entirely Christian, with no Egyptian inclusions. I think he did a prayer for Barty with Egyptian elements, so it seems likely that this is something different for Justin.

I was thinking it was odd, at first, but then I remembered that Justin was Christian, so sticking with the Christian elements would make sense.

It could just be that I'm too used to his prayers for others, but they feel a bit half-hearted for Justin.

If he knows the beliefs of the person he's praying for, he uses the prayers from that tradition! (See also: Savitha and Nisha, who got the Hindu funeral prayers.) That's from the C of E rite of burial.
