Well, that was fast.

And still developing as I post this. Live threads are the best.

Oh, also, Terry's non-protected posts continue to get more and more dangerous (bold, showing personality, expressing opinions), and I don't think he realizes it, and it makes me worry for him.

Woah! I was getting a little antsy over the past couple days, and then boom, I check this afternoon to see some very interesting and fairly long comment threads developing.

I've been noticing the same thing about Terry, and Carrow definitely looks to be picking up on this too. I can't imagine how Hermione or one of the others would go about cautioning him to go back to his old posting style, though. It's so nice to see all those dangerous elements coming from him - the only thing worse than not seeing them would be seeing too much of them!

By the way, I'm desperately curious and completely unable to think of what Terry did to win his place back by Carrow's side (ugh, what a goal). I'm a bit ashamed to say where my mind went initially, but his back-and-forth with Hermione seemed to confirm that it wasn't anything too extraordinarily heinous. But he said that he gave Carrow "what he wanted," which I imagine has something to do with his experiments. Nothing good, I'm sure.

I'm a bit ashamed to say where my mind went initially . . .

Hmm. It looks like Hermione's mind went there, too. I mean, if I'm reading it right, she's trying to sort of hint, oh no, is it sexual? While still trying to reassure him. And Terry realizes what she means but says no, without coming right out and saying it.

But if that's it is, who's he talking about with the line 'that's stuff he [Amycus] gets from somebody else'?

Mmm.

What do you think Amycus wants from Terry?

Personally, I have always assumed that both Canon!Amycus and Alternity!Amycus are sleeping with Alecto.

Signed, someone who is playing a student who is not privy to the details of her professors' personal lives. Least of all Professor Carrow. Do you think -- no, forget I said that, I don't WANT to think about this OMG EWWWWWWWWWWW.

Ha! Very good, you're right! The only reason I can't give you a gold star is that you're another player.

As for what Terry did. . . shall I tell you? Mmm. I think not. Feel free to guess. Maybe you'll learn someday. It was something specific.

But trust me: even though it wasn't sexual it was utterly gross and degrading. I'm not sure I could ever bring myself to do it, even if desperate. Terry would rather die than ever have Hermione know. It didn't have anything at all to do with the medical experiments in Building Seven.

And it pleased Amycus very much.

OOOOOH. I really really really should focus on trifling things like a 30+ minute presentation for tomorrow and the powerpoint slides to go with it, but this is going to niggle at me all evening!

And very true, regarding Alecto. With the Justine comments and so forth, I got a similar impression, at least for Alt!Amycus.

Ah. I was wondering if anyone had caught that.

It was the correct answer, but as Terry's player, I judged it to be too revealing for this point in the story--more in terms of emotional nakedness than in terms of revealing the specifics of the incident. Terry cares very much about Hermione, and it has always been his instinct to hide from her most of what Amycus does to him, just to avoid upsetting her too much. In a way, the I Solemnly Swear lock has upended his usual strategy in this regard somewhat, because it continually entices him to be more honest than he has ever been before. He wants that, but it terrifies him, too, and he hasn't quite figured out the new boundaries yet.

As his player, I'm still figuring them out, too.

All right, I changed my mind. I'm perverse that way. This is what Terry did to convince Amycus to take him back:

He fed Amycus dinner and then plied Amycus with firewhiskey. Lots and lots of firewhiskey. Amycus is an alcoholic, but he frequently drinks so much to excess that he vomits it up and Terry is expected to clean it up afterwards. This time, after he'd sicked up on the floor, Terry begged him to take him back to Hogwarts and Amycus slurred, 'I don't believe you want to come back with me. You don't love your master enough. What would you do to prove it?'

Desperate, Terry belly-crawled through the vomit to kiss Amycus' boots as Amycus continued to jeer, 'Prove it, prove it!'

Finally, in total desperation, Terry licked up and ate the vomit.

Urgh.

I was trying to imagine what it could be.

That was worse than anything I could think of.

Seconded and thirded and fourthed... wow. The sheer force of will it would take to do that boggles the mind.
