Who's possessed?

All right, fellow alt_fen, let's talk. Someone has let the basilisk out to play at Hogwarts. The adults are speculating (woe, Dobby). The kids are speculating. We all know who did it in canon, but do you think the agent has changed in this world?

Consider: Canon!Ginny was known to be secretive, shy, hiding away with her BFF diary!Tom. Alternity!Ginny has indeed been writing, but in the public journals and in correspondence with her mother, and to all intents appears to be active and social.

Or...is that just a front, also constructed by the shade of Tom Riddle?

Personally, I don't think she's it this time around. I actually suspected Ron for quite a while, given his odd, guarded behavior, but he was with Harry and Draco when the "Enemies of the Heir" incident occurred, so I have to clear him. My new suspect is Hydra, who is certainly odd and secretive enough on her own (thanks, crazy mom!) without a secret diary, but whose solitude also makes her the perfect target.

Hmm.. good point! It could very well be Hydra, she's indeed odd and seems to be quite lonely (poor kid!). However, I still think it's Ginny, even in this version of canon. I thought some of her posts, like the one on the fourteenth of October, sound very strange and way too grown-up for a little girl like her. Also, she claims she was in bed all day on Halloween day.. that made me wonder if she was 'possessed' all day, just like in canon (right? I don't remember it very well). However, I do wonder how she got it, can't imagine that Malfoy would give it to her in this case. I would suspect, with Voldemort still very much alive, he would take care of his own Horcruxes.. but of course we don't know.

Also, I'll just use this space (because I keep forgetting to make a real post about it) to compliment the writers on the whole Dobby arc! Nice twist and to hear Poppy talk about him like this makes me feel for him.. I wonder what happened to him, and if he'll ever be all right again (it would be great if Harry could free him somehow, just like in canon..)

THANK YOU. That's been bugging me since the start of term. She sounds almost Percy-like in her propriety.

I thought she was writing a bit oddly myself, but then I thought, well, why doesn't anyone in her family notice? But they didn't realize anything was wrong in canon either. And the entry from the fourteenth is pretty different from, well, this one here (http://alt-ginny.dreamwidth.org/565.html).

I do still kind of hope that it's Hydra and not Ginny, though. Considering the trouble Ron got into with the car, I'm not sure the Weasleys could take Ginny being involved in the Chamber. Granted, the Chamber doesn't involving Harry as directly, but since it's still placing students in danger...

I definitely thought it was Ron, until he got on the lock and explained what his deal was with Molly.

I am actually leaning towards Ginny, just because after the first incident, she was all out of sorts with her "cold" and was very upset. Also some remaining canon sort of bears it out (wasn't she present at the Lucius/Arthur fight?).

She was there, I believe, but I also noticed Lucius being extremely shocked at the "Enemies of the Heir" incident, and it actually seemed genuine. Of course, I'll never be able to find it now. :-/
